Let me start out by saying that Rich is super husband - he sat on the airplane with all three girls to and from Mexico while I sat several rows back, snoozing and reading....and he somehow survived!
We had such a wonderful relaxing vacation, just the 5 of us, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We spent our days going from pool to beach and back again, sipping on Strawberry Smoothies, chasing peacocks, and feeding the iguanas that wandered lazily around the resort. Each night we would go to the restaurant on the beach and have a nice dinner. The girls were always so well behaved that all the senior citizens at the resort were constantly complimenting them. Such good girls, even Hazel. Hazel was entertainment for everyone, strutting around like she owned the place...she's so tiny. She was NOT a fan of the beach, no sand, no way.
A couple of days we took a taxi into town and wandered around and one day we got a local to give us a boat ride to look for whales. It is whale season there - but we didn't see any. (You have to get up earlier in the morning and we are just not willing to do that). We did, however, see some from the beach.
One day we were told about a turtle farm about a mile? down the beach that let's you help them release baby turtles, so we took the trek down the beach to the little "turtle sanctuary" which was really just a little shack ran by a little Mexican family with little English skills. At sunset we all took a baby turtle, lined them up, and released them into the ocean. The girls loved seeing their little guys struggle and squirm to the water. (Then the tide came in and they all got pushed way back and had to start all over - who knows how many actually made it before a bird swooped in and...well, you know).
So in conclusion, our mid-winter taste of summer was wonderful. On to the pictures.....
