The itsy bitsy spider...

Every spring when the weather gets nice and it's time to go outside, Lili gets her new "Fear of the Year". Her first year of life was the fear of grass. She cringed to even look at it. If she was forced to sit in it, she would carefully balance one of her legs in the air with a horrified look on her face. Last year it was the fear of water (the ocean, lakes, swimming pools, and yes, even bath time) and also the fear of sand or wood chips in her sandals. This year it is the fear of spiders, ants, flies, and bees. It's been beautiful outside the last couple of days but we never end up being outside for very long because, after a little while, Lili is shrieking like a girl at an ant crawling nearby. If a fly buzzes next to her, it's complete pandemonium. She ends up being perched on my lap the remainder of our outside time, or she insists to go indoors, "Because there is a yucky bug on the garage door." Like the other "Fears of the Year" we are hoping that she'll get adjusted before the summer is over and move on to her next fear the following year...

If not, our week long camping trip we have planned will be a nightmare for her, and for us.

Veronica-
That is so funny. I am trying so hard to get Elijah to fear bugs, but maybe I should stop. He looks for bugs everytime we are outside, and unfortunately he finds them and brings them to me. So far they have been harmless, but I still think it is kind of gross.
