Antelope Island

Every season we make a seasonal "To Do" list.  We sit down as a family and write down everything we want to do during that season.  As an example, here is a small sampling of our Summer To Do List....

Go to a parade
Watch fireworks
Go on a picnic
Go to the Splash Pad
Get a shake at Jake's Over the Top
Go to Lagoon
Play board games on the patio
Watch a Movie Outside
Go car camping
and more...

It's a good way to get everything done that we dream of doing in the deep dark winter, and if we are wondering what to do on a summer's night we look at our list for inspiration.

One of the things on our list this year was to go to Antelope Island.  Both Rich and I can count on one hand how many times we've been out there.  We wanted to give our girls the experience of dipping their toes in the salty water (with all the foreigners) and being able to say they've "been in" the Great Salt Lake.  Utah pride!  So Rich took off work early last week and we ventured out.

It's not the most exciting place in the world, but we still had a really great time....

Walking on the beach....

Chasing away the tiny gnats on the beach.  It looked like the sand was just dark, but really it was covered in small bugs.  They would clear out whenever you'd walk in them so it was fun to run and make huge waves of bugs scattering.  You could even hear them buzzing.  Gross, but fun.

Everyone got in to throwing rocks into the water.

Dipping our toesies into the water.

Look I was there!!  Windblown,  pregnant, and no one is looking at the camera, but still...proof that I exist!

We took a back road and got up close and personal w/ some Buffalo and an Antelope at the watering hole.

We were happy to be able to cross off Antelope Island from our summer to do list.  It is one of the last things on the list.  Time to sit down and make our Autumn To Do List!!

Wha, wha, what?! A picture of you on the blog? You look so pretty. I love your stylin' outfit!

Your family is so adorable. I love your seasonal lists. They are so comprehensive for really experiencing the essence of each time of year. Kudos!

Looking back, all we "got done" was sitting on our buns and eating tons of Otter Pops...
